Nutrient Content in Cassava (Ipomoea batatas)

There are several types of sweet potatoes (often also called cassava), but usually we find two kinds: sweet drier with brown skin and yellowish fruit, or sweet is sweeter with purple skin and orange-colored fruit. Benefits that you can get from cassava, among others:

1. One of the best sources of vitamin A
Cassava dubbed as a super food by the Center for Science in the Public Interest thanks to nutritional content. A single medium-size cassava provides more than 200 percent of the daily requirement for vitamin A. This vitamin appears in the form of beta carotene, which gives a yellow color of sweet orange.


2. Vitamins and other minerals
Cassava is also the best source of vitamin C, copper, vitamin B6, iron, calcium, potassium, and manganese. 

3. Easily digested
High content of starch which makes it less work for the digestive system, which eliminates the cause of abdominal pain. The high fiber can prevent constipation (and cause other stomach ailments). While vitamins A, B, C, calcium, and potasiumnya help relieve stomach ulcers, and similar problems because of the benefits preventing inflammation.

4. Carbohydrates are an alternative to dieting
Cassava are not cooked medium containing 112 calories, fat free and cholesterol free and low in sodium.
